I too am recieving an error when attempting to create my first application pool from central admin. It says “The username and password entered are not valid.” I have attempted using the default populated settings, with kerberos, with NTLM, specifing the app pool account, creating a fresh AD account and it keeps responding with the same error.

Can anyone advise?

Which user’s login should I give during installation if I want the site to be available to all users?
